Interactive Avatars
Our interactive avatars incorporate complex scripts and rule-based guardrails, to facilitate voice-controlled interactions with virtual characters using natural conversation.
Our detailed scripting process allows our interactive avatars to feature believable personalities, unique points of view, detailed back-stories, family backgrounds and personal histories.
Our specialist production process can create a diverse range of interactive avatars that capture the subtle nuances of body language and communication.

Experiential Learning
Our interactive avatars enable voice-controlled interactions using natural conversation between users and virtual characters.
Integrating our interactive avatars into a role-play learning experience can enhance communication skills development, reflective practice, accessibility and engagement across diverse educational settings.
Using our interactive avatars, learners are able to think about and experiment with their communication style and work out how to respond in challenging situations by giving them a licence to fail and learn from their mistakes in a safe environment through using simulated high-stakes scenarios.

'Virtual Patient' Consultation - Live Interaction
|
This demonstration video shows a typical live consultation between an interactive 'Virtual Patient' and a medical practitioner.
The 'Virtual Patient' is interacting with the medical practitioner in real-time, and has been scripted using a detailed ADHD medical history with strict rule-based guardrails. The 'Virtual Patient' has been waiting for some time to meet with a specialist to discuss treatment options for her ADHD. Read more about this use of our interactive avatars here.

Key Benefits
Our interactive avatars can offer a more effective, more affordable, and easier-to-use process than recruiting real people for role-play learning in the following ways;
1. Effectiveness
2. Affordability
3. Ease of Use
1. Effectiveness
- Standardisation – extensive knowledge base using authentic and detailed information.
- Behavioural Change – finely-tuned and highly customisable interactions to steer learning outcomes.
- Emotional Engagement – high-level immersive effect which can enable the ‘suspension of disbelief’ in the user, leading to an authentic learning experience.
2. Affordability
- Low Running Costs – exponentially more cost-effective due to automation and economies of scale.
- No Technology Barriers – playable through a web browser on any device, including PCs, tablets or phones, requiring no specialist hardware or software.
- Scalable – deliverable to groups of learners locally (in-person) or remotely worldwide in multiple languages.
3. Ease of Use
- Readily Available – accessible as an immediate, on-demand 24/7 service, with no training required for use.
- Safe & Versatile – strict rules-based guard-rails implemented whilst being highly robust and flexible.
- Repeatable & Controllable – quality controlled and consistent in its content and function.
User Experience (UX) Design
By incorporating complex scripting with strict rule-based guardrails, the creation of our interactive avatars requires rigorous conversational design and prompting to prevent them from veering off-subject and giving unrelated responses.
Our interactive avatars are designed to respond appropriately and naturally, to encourage active questioning without offering too much unsolicited information, which could reduce opportunities for learners to practice structured enquiry.
Simulating emotionally intense or resistant responses (such as expressing frustration or anger) in our interactive avatars also requires careful scripting.
